YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a free community event celebrating health and wellness for the whole family. The activities provided are fun and interactive, while stressing the importance of making healthy choices!

Healthy Kids Day is expected to bring out a lot of community members, so YMCA of Oakville needs your help!

Gladys Speers Public School is holding their annual school Fun Fair to raise funds for the home and school association. Funds raised are used to purchase equipment, speakers, etc for the school!

Gladys Speers Public School Home and School Association is in need of friendly and helpful volunteers to make the event run smoothly! A big crowd is to be expected and many volunteers will be needed at various stations outdoor.

Rain or Shine- the event is held outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather!

Snacks and Dinner- free snacks like popcorn and cotton candy will be provided, but dinner is your responsibility to bring.

*Harvey’s will be onsite to purchase hotdogs and hamburgers!

The event starts at 5:30pm and runs until 8:30pm! (If you can only volunteer for a couple of hours, please still sign up!)

The Mercedes-Benz Oakville 10k presented by New Balance is a community event in support of the Oakville Community Foundation.  The Oakville Community Foundation is part of a comprehensive network of over 175 Canadian community foundations.  OCF acts as a bridge between donors and greater Oakville charities to help create and maintain a strong, vibrant community for generations to come. 

This event will be a great learning experience for any volunteer. There are many roles to fill and there will be a lot of individuals for volunteers to interact with. The event will allow volunteers to engage with their community and have fun!

What

Volunteers are needed to fill various tasks for the event. These tasks include:

-Registration/Baggage check

• For these tasks, volunteers will be registering any walk-up participants and also checking in pre-registered participants
• For baggage check, volunteers will be checking participant baggage

-Course Marshalls- comfortable with standing on the various street corners that are part of the 10k route and directing the runners if need be (ex: if the runners are approaching a turn)

-Signage/Food and Beverage/Medals/Start and Finish- to fix any signage that needs fixing, provide participants with food and beverages, and to provide participants with medals at the finish line

Where

-Parents will be able to pick up their children on the Appleby Campus anytime after 11:00 AM. Prior to 11:00 AM, the school gates will be closed to the public so parents will have to pick up their children on Lakeshore Rd in front of the school

-Volunteers will be unable to park on the Appleby Campus, so when the volunteers arrive at the school, they will have to be dropped off at the Appleby College entrance at 540 Lakeshore Rd. There will be a supervisor there to advise them where the volunteer meet-up location is

When

-The event itself will start at 8am on Sunday, April 15, however, volunteers are expected to arrive for 6am. Food will be provided free of charge for event volunteers!

*Don’t forget to dress appropriately for the weather! The event will take place whether rain or shine!

Any newcomer youth interested in obtaining a coaching certificate, this course is for you!  If you like sports and working with kids, this program will help you be a great coach and make fun games for kids. You will learn about how kids:
