Recognizing Students
Who Have Made
an Outstanding Contribution
to their Community
through Service

 

 

CYAN is pleased to introduce the Youth Achievers Awards. These awards recognize and celebrate CYAN youth between the ages of 13 and 25 years, for noteworthy achievements, for contributions to the Youth Steering Committee, inspiring others, spirit, outstanding friendship, and contributions to the community through service projects and advocacy.

Certificates and gifts will be awarded in 5 categories:

 

 

Award for Excellence

 

The Award for Excellence is awarded to members of the CYAN Youth Steering Committee. These members must have completed a minimum of 80% of the volunteer hours provided by CYAN for community service, service learning and life skills development. They are recognized for their leadership qualities, dedication to the organization and commitment to impacting the health and wellbeing of their community. They are supportive and encouraging of their peers and display a strong work ethic. Names will be put forward by the Director of Community Engagement and peer nomination.

 

 

Youth Inspire Award

 

The Youth Inspire awards are presented to five exceptional individuals whose ideas and creativity have influenced the efforts and initiatives which have contributed significantly to the quality of life in their communities.

 

 

Youth Spirit Award

 

The Youth Spirit Award is presented to an individual who’s enthusiasm, humor and zeal always shines through in all that they do. Their manner is infectious and they have the ability to find the FUN in any task or challenge.

 

 

Friendship Award

 

Nominate a great friend! Have you seen friendship in action? Have you experienced true friendship? At CYAN we want to reward young people who have practiced true friendship, young people who deserve to be recognized for going out of their way to be a friend.

 

Humanitarian Award

 

The Humanitarian award is presented to an individual who’s kindness and compassion for others is at all times present. They are an exemplary role model for what it means to be other-centered.

 

Please consider nominating deserving youth for these awards.

 

PROCESS and ELIGIBILITY FOR NOMINATION

To be eligible for the CYAN Outstanding Achievers Award a member must be:

 

  • Between the ages of 14 – 20.
  • Have completed one year of involvement with CYAN.
  • Have completed a minimum of two community service projects.
  • Have completed a minimum of two life skills sessions.
  • Have attended at least two service learning sessions.

SELECTION PROCESS
From the list of nominees, a committee comprised of Board members, Staff, Steering Committee members and community stakeholders shall make the final selection of award winners.

 

 

All Nominees Receive
A certificate of achievement and recognition in the CYAN News.
